Pandemic Response

Our therapists at Healing Reflections Therapy will continue to provide services during the Covid-19 Pandemic, but with alterations to services beginning Wednesday March 18, 2020. We will be offering services via telehealth phone or video conferencing. We encourage you to check with your insurance company to ensure telehealth is covered.  During this time, cancellation fees will also be waived due to health concerns in an effort to ensure our clients are making the best decisions for their health, their families health, and the community.

Availability

For Megan: I am currently scheduling clients interested in general individual, couple, or family counseling or trauma-based counseling for adults or children. For those interested in sexual trauma services, you may continue to access services with me through the YWCA. For inquiries about local online telemedicine via Vsee Clinic App, contact me for additional information. I currently have evening and weekend availability.

For Chris Scarberry: I have evening and afternoon availability during the week.

Fees

Megan Garza's specialized counseling services are available at $75-200 per hour on a sliding scale. Sessions are generally 60 minutes.

As well as accepting many insurances (listed below), Chris Scarberry offers an income-based sliding scale for clients who are uninsured or prefer not to use their insurance. Fees range from $75-$120 for a 45-min
session and $120-$200 for 60 min sessions depending upon income.

Payments are accepted via cash, check, or credit card using an online service. Payment is due at or before time of service.

Insurance

For Chris Scarberry: I am paneled with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Healthlink, Coventry, Aetna, Ambetter, Cigna, Ryan White/HSI.  I am also on with H&H and Beacon Health Options EAPs.  I can take United Healthcare as an out of network provider or offer a reduced fee for service instead of billing them as I am not in network for UHC

For Megan Garza:
I am not currently in-network for insurance panels, but I can help you utilize your out-of-network benefits. Contact me about sliding scale options.

Things to be Aware of Before Seeking Therapy Services

I am excited about the opportunity of working with you. Whether you are new to therapy or familiar with the process, there are a few things you should know:
Limits of Confidentiality: Clients seeking services should be aware that any information that you share with your therapist is kept private and is not released without your consent, however there are limits to confidentiality. If you disclose that you are planning to kill yourself or someone else, if you tell us about any abuse to a child, elderly person, or disabled individual we are required to take steps to prevent any threatened danger, which may include hotline or police calls as a mandated report if we are unable to make the necessary safety plans. Additionally, therapists may be required to release records if court-ordered to by a judge.  Therapists may contact billing services/insurance companies in order to receive payment. While serving minors, parents may have the right to access information about their child's treatment.  Online services are not secure and any personal information sent over the internet may be seen by other unknown parties. In order to respect your privacy, if we should cross paths in public, we will not acknowledge you unless you acknowledge us first.

Voluntary Participation: Services are Voluntary and may be discontinued at any time without penalty. Clients have the rights to refuse any aspect of treatment. Sometimes we may find that we are not the best fit for you and you would be better served by another provider, at which time referrals will be provided to you.

Risks/Limitations: The decision to seek therapy services is brave, and often comes after much deliberation or distress. We are privileged to have the opportunity to walk with you through your healing journey. Most people come to therapy during a very vulnerable time in their lives. We are invested in helping you reach your goals, but individuals seeking services should be aware that there is no guarantee that you will achieve your desired result. Outcomes are often dependent on your level of motivation, effort, consistency of attending sessions, as well as doing work out of session. Because therapy services are designed to help you gain insight into yourself and connect with your feelings and body reactions, you may feel worse before you feel better. It is not uncommon at some point in the treatment process to experience an increase in symptoms, distress, or changes in your relationships with other people, which may not always be welcomed by your loved ones, even if it is in your best interest.

Benefits: Although treatment gains cannot be guaranteed, many clients who invest themselves in therapy services will experience a reduction in symptoms (for example, depression, anxiety, panic, flashbacks, nightmares, tearfullness), lower levels of stress, learn effective coping skills, increase their boundary setting abilities and assertiveness skills, improved interpersonal relationships, and gain the ability to take back their lives.

Cancellation Policy: We hope that you will value our time and expertise as well as your own and take advantage of the time we have to work together. However, we are aware that sometimes things come up that limit your ability to attend services. We ask that you give 24 hours advance notice prior to canceling or rescheduling so that we may offer our services to someone else in need. Appointments canceled without 24 hour notice will be billed a $50 cancellation fee.

Emergencies: Therapy services and use of online platforms (texting via google voice, Vsee, webpage, email) are not available 24 hours a day. In cases of emergency, during weekends, holidays, or late evenings please call BHR at 314-469-6644, go to the nearest emergency room, or call 911.

Gifts:  We generally do not accept gifts nor are we able to barter for services.

Culturally-Informed Services:  Our services prioritize cultural understanding and awareness with minority groups, people of color, and LGBTQIA+ identifying individuals; are gender affirming, and recognize the impact the generational trauma, historical trauma, and institutional racism. We encourage opportunities for sharing and learning about diverse cultures.  We work with individuals from diverse religious backgrounds and do not impose any religious, spiritual or non-religious beliefs, rather the client's belief is what is honored in treatment. As consistent with legal and ethical requirements for therapists, we do not practice conversion therapy.

Accessibility: We welcome individuals with a range of ability and functional levels. However, accessing our office requires 2 flights of stairs and there are no elevators in the building. Please contact us about alternative options for service accessibility.

Language Access/Immigrant Status:  Our primary language is English. We have some basic Spanish speaking ability, but are not fluent. We welcome the use of interpreters. We do not record/report citizenship status. Our priority is to meet the unique needs of the individuals we serve and eliminate service barriers.

Parking

There is a private parking lot and additional nearby free street parking. A police association is located next door and shares the parking lot. The parking lot is lit up and close to the building.
