Insurance
For Chris Scarberry, LPC: I am paneled with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Healthlink, Aetna, Ambetter, Cigna, United Healthcare. I may take others as an out of network provider or offer a reduced fee for service instead of billing them.
For Megan Garza, LMFT: I accept private pay. I am also now in-network with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of MO, Aetna, and Healthlink, and I can help you utilize your out-of-network benefits with other panels. Contact me about requesting sliding scale options.
for McKayla Kagie Robinson, MA, SMFT: I accept Private Pay clients for couples or individuals. I can accept Aetna insurance under my supervisor for individuals.
for Jordan Langley, BA, BS, MFT Intern: I accept Private Pay clients for couples or individuals on a low-fee basis. I cannot accept insuance.
Due to limitations in billing, insurance will no longer be accepted for couples or family sessions. Couples and families may receive services through Private-pay. Insurance requires one person to be selected as the patient to be treated, carry a diagnosis, and have a medically necessary treatment, which is not in-line with systemic work where all members are treated and services often extend beyond what is deemed medically necessary. Insurance companies do not reimburse for the codes commonly used as the diagnostic code for couple/relational/family concerns.
Note to Medicare recipients: LMFTS and LPCS cannot bill Medicare. As such, even if you hold secondary insurance with a provider we are paneled with, we will not be able to bill either provider, as Medicare is always primary and we are unable to submit claims to receive a rejection letter that would enable us to bill your secondary provider. We encourage you to contact your state representative about advocating for policy change with Medicare providers.

Things to be Aware of Before Seeking Therapy Services
I am excited about the opportunity of working with you. Whether you are new to therapy or familiar with the process, there are a few things you should know:
Limits of Confidentiality: Clients seeking services should be aware that any information that you share with your therapist is kept private and is not released without your consent, however there are limits to confidentiality. If you disclose that you are planning to kill yourself or someone else, if you tell us about any abuse to a child, elderly person, or disabled individual we are required to take steps to prevent any threatened danger, which may include hotline or police calls as a mandated report if we are unable to make the necessary safety plans. Additionally, therapists may be required to release records if court-ordered to by a judge. Therapists may contact billing services/insurance companies in order to receive payment. While serving minors, parents may have the right to access information about their child's treatment. Online services are not secure and any personal information sent over the internet may be seen by other unknown parties. In order to respect your privacy, if we should cross paths in public, we will not acknowledge you unless you acknowledge us first.
Voluntary Participation: Services are Voluntary and may be discontinued at any time without penalty. Clients have the rights to refuse any aspect of treatment. Sometimes we may find that we are not the best fit for you and you would be better served by another provider, at which time referrals will be provided to you.
Risks/Limitations: The decision to seek therapy services is brave, and often comes after much deliberation or distress. We are privileged to have the opportunity to walk with you through your healing journey. Most people come to therapy during a very vulnerable time in their lives. We are invested in helping you reach your goals, but individuals seeking services should be aware that there is no guarantee that you will achieve your desired result. Outcomes are often dependent on your level of motivation, effort, consistency of attending sessions, as well as doing work out of session. Because therapy services are designed to help you gain insight into yourself and connect with your feelings and body reactions, you may feel worse before you feel better. It is not uncommon at some point in the treatment process to experience an increase in symptoms, distress, or changes in your relationships with other people, which may not always be welcomed by your loved ones, even if it is in your best interest.
Benefits: Although treatment gains cannot be guaranteed, many clients who invest themselves in therapy services will experience a reduction in symptoms (for example, depression, anxiety, panic, flashbacks, nightmares, tearfullness), lower levels of stress, learn effective coping skills, increase their boundary setting abilities and assertiveness skills, improved interpersonal relationships, and gain the ability to take back their lives.
Cancellation Policy: We hope that you will value our time and expertise as well as your own and take advantage of the time we have to work together. However, we are aware that sometimes things come up that limit your ability to attend services. We ask that you give 24 hours advance notice prior to canceling or rescheduling so that we may offer our services to someone else in need. Appointments canceled without 24 hour notice will be billed a $50 cancellation fee. Arriving more than 15 minutes late to an appointment will be considered a late cancellation.
Emergencies: Therapy services and use of online platforms (texting via google voice, Vsee, webpage, email) are not available 24 hours a day. In cases of emergency, during weekends, holidays, or late evenings please call BHR at 314-469-6644, go to the nearest emergency room, or call 911.
Gifts: We generally do not accept gifts nor are we able to barter for services.
Culturally-Informed Services: Our services prioritize cultural understanding and awareness with minority groups, people of color, and LGBTQIA+ identifying individuals; are gender affirming, and recognize the impact the generational trauma, historical trauma, and institutional racism. We encourage opportunities for sharing and learning about diverse cultures. We work with individuals from diverse religious backgrounds and do not impose any religious, spiritual or non-religious beliefs, rather the client's belief is what is honored in treatment. As consistent with legal and ethical requirements for therapists, we do not practice conversion therapy.
Accessibility: We welcome individuals with a range of ability and functional levels. However, accessing our office requires 2 flights of stairs and there are no elevators in the building. Please contact us about alternative options for service accessibility.
Language Access/Immigrant Status: Our primary language is English. We have some basic Spanish speaking ability, but are not fluent. We welcome the use of interpreters. We do not record/report citizenship status. Our priority is to meet the unique needs of the individuals we serve and eliminate service barriers.
Using Insurance: Many clients wish to use their insurance benefits, however clients should be aware that using your benefits, especially when seeking out couples or family therapy means that one of you must be given a mental health diagnosis that certifies medical necessity of treatment. Utilizing insurance benefits may mean that your insurance company may determine the length and duration of your sessions, and may request to review your confidential session notes to determine the appropriateness of the services for reimbursement. Some elect not to use the coverage due to privacy concerns, or not wanting to carry a diagnostic label. Clients may opt-out of using their insurance and choose private-pay. For those that elect to use their insurance benefits, it's important that you verify your coverage, copay and deductibles prior to your first session. Some clients have large deductibles, so their insurance will not kick in until the deductible is met. You will be liable for any portion of services that the insurance does not pay. If you are using out-of network benefits, you will be asked to pay the full-fee up front, and then a superbill will be provided to you to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Parental Consent for Minors in Therapy: If you are a parent seeking therapy for your child, we will need you to sign the consent forms and if you have a custody agreement, we may ask for a copy of that and may require the other parents' consent as well.
Voluntary Participation: Services are Voluntary and may be discontinued at any time without penalty. Clients have the rights to refuse any aspect of treatment. Sometimes we may find that we are not the best fit for you and you would be better served by another provider, at which time referrals will be provided to you.
